40 Years of the Alexander Library Building

ABOUT THE EVENT

The State Library is celebrating 40 years since the opening of the Alexander Library Building with behind-the-scenes tours and a look at Perth in the 1980s. This is a rare opportunity to explore parts of our building which are usually off-limits to the public and view precious items in the collection.

Experts will reflect on the significance of the building and the long history of the site as a place for storytelling.

Designed by Western Australian architects Cameron, Chisolm and Nicol, the State Library is part of a suite of architecturally significant Perth buildings in the brutalist style. Other such buildings include the Art Gallery of Western Australia, Perth Concert Hall and East Perth Terminal.

Presented in partnership with Perth Design Week.

Registrations will open soon.
